RSO Performs the Movie Music of John Williams

Music Director Steven Larsen and The Rockford Symphony Orchestra kick off the Rockford Health System Pops Series with a salute to the movie music of John Williams.  The concert will be at our new earlier start time of 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at the Coronado Theatre.  This concert is graciously sponsored by Alpine Bank. 
 
The orchestra will perform pieces from such film favorites as Superman, Jaws, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, as well as the haunting music from Angela’s Ashes, and Schindler’s List.  Rockford Register Star movie critic Will Pfeifer will be on stage with the RSO to provide commentary about the films being featured. 
Tickets for this concert are available at www.rockfordsymphony.com or by calling the RSO Box Office at 815-965-0049. Ticket prices range from $17 to $48 ($19 - $50 on the day of the concert at the Coronado Box office).  New this year--ticket buyers can select exact seating when purchasing tickets on our website at www.rockfordsymphony.com
The RSO will also host a specially themed dinner the night of the concert held at 5 p.m. in the Coronado Theatre Rehearsal Room.  Dinner includes appetizers, entrée with wine, and dessert.  A cash bar will also be available.  Cost is $75 per person.  Reservations must be made by Friday, October 19.  Call 815.965.0049.
Under the artistic leadership of Music Director Steven Larsen, the Rockford Symphony Orchestra is a leading arts organization in the Rockford Region and the third largest symphony orchestra in the state of Illinois.  The RSO is made up of 85 professional musicians who perform 17 concerts per year--including classics, pops, ballet, and opera--for an estimated annual audience of 30,000.  The RSO was named the 2007 Orchestra of the Year for Illinois.
