Pec Playhouse Theatre announces auditions for Wait Until Dark
by Press Release
Pec Playhouse Theatre in Pecatonica is announcing open auditions for the summer production of its 2007 season, Wait Until Dark, a clever mystery thriller by Frederick Knott.  The play will be under the direction of Michael Stanton Kelly.

Set in the 1960's, the action takes place in the apartment of Suzy, newly blind, and her husband Sam.  Suzy doesn't know it, but Sam has hidden a mysterious doll in their apartment, and with a few tough-love instructions on how to adapt to her new life with blindness, Sam is off to work as usual.  However, a group of three doll-seeking thugs have caught up with Sam and contrive a convoluted and unrelenting plot to capitalize on Suzy's disadvantage and retrieve the mysterious doll from Suzy's apartment.  Suzy's lack of confidence in being alone and blind in her own home offers the perfect opportunity for the menacing men to create chaos and confusion and engulf Suzy in a terrifying conundrum.  Suzy's rising terror is palpable, and this show will have you on the edge of your seat - when you're not jumping out of it! For good old-fashioned thrills, you won't do better than Wait Until Dark.

There are roles for 1 woman, 6 men, and 1 young girl of about age 12.  Acting experience for the role of Suzy is preferred, but not required.  Actors are encouraged to become familiar with the script prior to auditioning. Auditions are scheduled for Wednesday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 24th at 7pm.  All auditions are at the theatre at 314 Main Street in Pecatonica.

Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm, July 13th-29th.  Tickets are $10 for all seats and go on sale June 22nd.   For more information, please call Pec Playhouse Theatre at (815) 239.1210 or visit the at www.pecplayhouse.org
