Rockford Art Museum presents the Studio Artists Show, featuring original artwork in different mediums—watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel and more—by 30 members of the Studio Artists Group. The free exhibition opened Nov. 1 and remains on display through Dec. 9 in the RAM Art Annex, 711 N. Main St., Rockford.
Each of the 80 members of the group receives personalized instruction from Christy Andres through classes taught at Rockford Art Museum. Studio Artists classes offer the adult artist an opportunity to learn and develop, or for the experienced artist to paint, in a studio atmosphere. All levels of experience are addressed. There are nine classes, two hours in length, and a variety of mediums are taught.
Classes with Christy are a Rockford tradition. She has been active in the Rockford art scene for more than 50 years and is celebrating her 40th year of freelance teaching, 12 of which have been at Rockford Art Museum. An accomplished artist known for her watercolors, she regularly serves as a juror for local art shows, as an art lecturer for area clubs, guilds and churches, and as an exhibitor with the Studio Artists and the Realism or Not groups.
