The Pumpkin Patch - Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin Would Approve

Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin would be pleased if they visited Caledonia, Illinois. That's because Caledonia is where they would find the Pumpkin Patch. While they may not be headed to the Pumpkin Patch, you should be. Located on Highway 173, It is a delight for all ages.

The Pumpkin Patch is decorated for fun with permanent witches, monsters and ghouls. The thing is, they are cartoon oriented enough to avoid frightening the little ones. Once there kids will find plenty to keep them occupied. From the corn maze to face painting and a petting zoo, there's little question that your little ones will have a good time. The thing is, there is plenty of shopping to keep you busy, too.

Author and illustrator Frank Fiorella established the Pumpkin Patch. While he has since relocated to Nevada, the same great items that always haunted the shelves remain. When exploring your shopping opportunities a good place to start is the upstairs area of the big barn/store building. There you will find all items you need to look your best (or should I say "worst?") on Halloween. Whether all you need is some make-up for your face or a mask, devil horns or a wig you'll find it there. They have everything from full costumes to that one small item to complete the look.

So, you've got yourself all decked out, but are trying to get your own similarly into the spirit? Then just walk down the stairs and into the back are of the barn. There you will find all the gear to alter your abode from "homey" to "horrifying" quickly. They even have Halloween gift baskets. Still, if you only go to those two sections you're just scratching the surface of the shopping to be had at the Pumpkin Patch.

There are always fresh baked goods from their onsite bakery. They bring in a full supply of delicacies direct from the manufacturers - the pumpkin fudge is "to die for." They also have a farmer's market.. Of course there are pumpkins for making pie (or just for decorating your porch). There's a café right inside the barn - just off of the main store section. There you can get barbecues, hot dogs, nachos and more. Or you can just warm up with a cup of cider. It's just another aspect of this all day experience for the whole family.

The Pumpkin Patch is open through the end of October. While you aren't likely to bump into Mr. Brown it seems certain that this is a place he would enjoy. For more information be sure to stop by their website at www.thegreatpumpkinpatch.com. It is without doubt a haunting good time.
