On the Beet - Special Live Ghost Cam - 05/13/2007

I tried something a little different last night with the cam.  I left a light on in the sitting room.  For the first time in three nights, the cam was still up when I woke up in the morning.  I wonder if the ghost doesn't like the light.

Tonight, our last night here, I will go back to keeping the sitting room dark for the night.  It will be interesting to see if anything odd happens to the cam stream.

We spent part of the day Saturday visiting Fort Sumter.  For those of you that remember your history, Fort Sumter is known for the being the place where the opening shots of the Civil War were fired.  The fort is located about three miles from Charleston in the middle of the entrance to Charleston Harbor and is only accessible by boat.  You can explore the fort and check out the different types of cannons that were used during the Civil War.  The fort is also the place to get the best view of the City of Charleston from the water.  For more information on Fort Sumter tours, check out SpiritLine Cruises at http://www.spiritlinecruises.com/.

Charleston has a number of beautiful parks to enjoy that are located right along the harbor.  White Point Gardens is located on the South Battery (right across the street from the Battery Carriage House Inn) and is a beautiful place for a picnic.  Waterfront Park host two huge fountains, one called the Pineapple Fountain, that children (and those adults that still have a little child in them) can splash around in.  There are "big" swings that can seat the whole family located on the pier too.

For those ghost fanatics, the Haunted Jail tour mentioned yesterday is a must see.  The Jail was constructed in 1802 and housed Charleston criminals for over a hundred years.  Our tour guide was fantastic and recounted many tales of ghostly happenings she has experienced.  I don't want to spoil it for you, but it is a fun and fascinating tour.  We didn't see any ghosts, but I have gone through the pictures yet.  The Haunted Jail tour is hosted by Bulldog Tours.
