If you have a taste for good ole country music delivered with creativity, uniqueness and a Rockford area flair, then Southern Heritage is the band for you. While their repertoire of music from country greats (Merle Haggard, Brooks and Dunn, Toby Keith and more) will please the purists, Southern Heritage doesn’t stop there. Instead they bring their unique country interpretations to music by artists as far ranging as Van Halen, Roy Orbisson and The Commodores. The result is a sound that is firmly rooted in tradition, but stretching out to be all their own.
The group was founded over ten years ago by lead singer and guitarist Dan Magner. The lineup is filled out by Reggie Winterland (bass and vocals), Brian Thompson (drums and vocals), and Mike Gosnell (lead guitar). The group have all been working in the music business for some time and come from a variety of different musical styles and training. This is part of what makes Southern Heritage a unique musical experience.
They move easily between traditional country (Johnny Cash, Dierks Bentley, Buck Owens) to soulful sounds. They shift from Southern Rock to blues with an equal ease. Favorites at local clubs and venues, it seems that there is always a great opportunity to check out Southern Heritage’s interpretations of songs you know and love. For a great taste of down home tunes, you have to check out Southern Heritage. |
