FireHouse will be tearing it up at Elixur on March 17th along with Sugarfuse. For those who aren't familiar with the band, now is the time to make the acquaintance. These guys are international rock legends and to see them in Rockford is sure to be a treat. How often do you get to check out a band with platinum albums playing at Elixur? Well, more frequently these days, but still this is something that any fans of hard rock and melodic metal should not miss.

Their self-titled debut disc was released in 1990 and they started a string of top ten hits that year with "Don't Treat Me Bad."  Along with the other two singles from that disc, "Shake and Tumble" and "Love Of A Lifetime," the song helped to catapult the album to double platinum status in the US charts. The next year would see them getting the American Music Awards prize for "Best New Hard Rock/Metal Band." When you consider that they were up against such artists as Nirvana and Alice In Chains, that is definitely something of which to be proud.

Some bands might have been content to rest on their laurels after a start like that, but not FireHouse. They released their follow up album Hold Your Fire in 1992, and managed to avoid the sophomore slump that seems to befall so many bands. Indeed, they got two gold albums and another top ten hit with "When I Look Into Your Eyes" with that one (and over 2 million copies sold). The group showed further signs of consistency by another hit ("I Live My Life For You") on their third album, simply entitled 3. 1995 was the year of that release and also their first foray into the live arena of Asia.

They released another album, Good Acoustics, the following year and made their way on a massive world tour - but still found time to play live in the US. Not only did 1998 find them recording another album (Category 5 - not released in the US til the following year) but it saw them playing to huge crowds on the Rock Never Stops tour along with Slaughter, Warrant, Quiet Riot, and LA Guns. Their show in Osaka Japan on April 22, 1999 was recorded for the live album Bring 'em Out Live.

Seemingly a band that never stops, 2000 saw not only the US release of that live disc, but also their next studio album O2. Their latest disc PRIME TIME came out in 2003 and showed that the band still has what it takes to rock with style. Don't miss your chance to see them live in Rockford. Their show will be sure to create a hot time in the Forest City. Their website www.firehousemusic.com includes lots of information on the band, pics and even some sound samples to get you ready for the show.
