Rock Valley College Childrens Choir in concert
by Press Release

Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center and Rock Valley College continue a successful partnership for youth choirs and present “Holidays & Holy Days” on December 11, 2007 at 7:00 pm at Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center.

The Rock Valley College Children’s Choir, under the direction of Leah Baskin, is a performing and education choral organization for children in the Rock Valley area. Beginning in 2002 with one small choir, the program has grown to four separate choruses that encompass grades one through twelve:
* “Do-Re-Mi Singers” for grades one through three;
*  “Music Makers Chorus” for grades four through eight; and
*  “Music Masters Choir,” an audition-based choir for grades six through eight.

The choir has sung in concert with the Rock Valley Chorale, performed at the Coronado Theater, sung for the opening of a Smithsonian Institute exhibition and performed for civic and festival groups throughout the region. Children in the Choir come from all types of schools and education programs, including public, private, parochial and home schools and represent more than a dozen communities in the Rock Valley College district. The youth choirs hold both rehearsals and performances at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center in the heart of Rockford’s Cultural Corridor

For more information about the choirs or to register for the spring semester, contact Rock Valley College at 815.921.3900 or www.rockvalleycollege.edu
