Who Needs The Chains When You've Got Meg's? - Meg's Daily Grind That Is

When you think of coffee shops, the odds are one of those chain places (probably the one that sounds like a character from Battlestar Galactica) will come to mind. That could be a shame because (while it is a chain - a locally owned and operated chain) local coffee shop Meg's Daily Grind has all those nationals beaten, hands down. As a coffee connoisseur I can attest to the fact that Meg's Daily Grind's coffees stand tall next to the national competitors. You just don't get much better java than is offered at this establishment. Of course they have all the various concoctions including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos and more. I've read (but never tried so I can't confirm) that their vanilla chai tea is simply incredible. From the quality of their coffee concoctions, I think it is likely. Of course, for those who want to have something to eat, Meg's Daily Grind has you covered on that front, too. You can pick up everything from bagels to soup, salad and sandwiches. All of it is on an equal par with the quality of their coffee, too. That combination would make Meg's a winner and a place to which it would be worth taking a trip, but it gets even better. For one thing, it's not like you only have one location to try Meg's. They've got four spots to serve you better. And, my guess is it won't be long until that number increases. For now, though, you can try them at their original location at 6409 E. Riverside Blvd. Or you can check them out at Rock Valley College or in Roscoe at 5312 Williams Drive. Their newest spot is 1141 N. Alpine. Anywhere you go, though, you can expect great service, food and beverages. Meg's Daily Grind is family owned and first opened up in 2001 at that aforementioned Riverside locale. Their intent was to create an inviting coffee shop where people would feel comfortable. They had a firm belief that people should be treated as "more than just customers." This belief (along with quality products) has allowed the Erickson family (Chris and Jodi and daughters Megan and Leslie) to bring continued growth to their business. If you frequent coffee shops and haven't been to Meg's, what are you waiting for? The quality is at least as good as those chains and wouldn't you feel better having the money go to people in the Rockford area than some corporation based out of Seattle? It's good for the local economy and the value is there because the quality is far better. For more information (including a full menu and other goodies) you can check out their website http://www.megs-daily-grind.com. While they sponsor a book club and have live music from time to time, the truth is any day is a great day to get into Meg's Daily Grind.
