Ligion will be coming to Rockford next month, playing Elixur along with Soil and Seemless. While much of Ligion's sound will have an air of familiarity, the full picture is fresh and unique. They combine elements of modern hard rock with older styles for a new take on something that will make you feel right at home. The three-part harmonies and catchy songwriting will lure you in, but the complete package is what will keep you coming back from more. These guys are just plain great.

Combining modern rocking pop like The Killers with more traditional hard edged sounds like Kiss and Sabbath, the result is a sound that is all their own. You might even hear some old school punk in this musical melange. Whatever the combination, it all serves to entertain with class. They also show restraint in the modern era of 80 minute CD's. Rather than fill the disc out with some filler, Ligion sticks to delivering nothing but a set of top notch songs that weighs in at just under 45-minutes. When the music is this good, why push it with songs that don't quite cut it. That's the approach a lot of bands take, but not Ligion - and the disc is all the better for it.

This one will probably be making a lot of people's list for top releases of the year. Yes, it's that good. If you like hard rock and catchy tunes, you really need to pick this one up. It's a killer. You'll probably find yourself thinking that this section or that sounds like one band or another, but the end result is just plain original - and entertaining. You really can't go wrong with this one. Oh, and in case you wonder what they did with the extra available space, you'll get that answer if you slip the CD in your computer in the form of a killer video.
