Music Director Steven Larsen and The Rockford Symphony Orchestra kick off the Rockford Health System Pops Series with a salute to the movie music of John Williams. The concert will be at our new earlier start time of 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at the Coronado Theatre. This concert is graciously sponsored by Alpine Bank.
The orchestra will perform pieces from such film favorites as Superman, Jaws, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, as well as the haunting music from Angela’s Ashes, and Schindler’s List. Rockford Register Star movie critic Will Pfeifer will be on stage with the RSO to provide commentary about the films being featured.

Ticket prices range from $17 to $48 ($19 - $50 on the day of the concert at the Coronado Box office). The RSO will also host a specially themed dinner the night of the concert held at 5 p.m. in the Coronado Theatre Rehearsal Room. Dinner includes appetizers, entrée with wine, and dessert. The RSO is made up of 85 professional musicians who perform 17 concerts per year--including classics, pops, ballet, and opera--for an estimated annual audience of 30,000.
