Summer Rocks, a rock music summer camp for students age 11-17, will premier in June at Keith School in Rockford.  Local musicians will teach the Summer Rocks classes, and celebrities scheduled during the camp include Dave Ellefson, the original bassist from Megadeth; Troy Stetina, personal guitar coach to Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge (formerly Creed), and Rachel Flotard of Visqueen, an indie-rock band based out of Seattle, WA. 

The only rock-and-roll camp in the area, Summer Rocks is designed to help aspiring young musicians by providing:

Instruction in guitar, bass, vocals, keyboard and drums

Master sessions with local music industry professionals

Group practice to develop playing skills with other band members

Friday night concerts in the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell, where the young musicians will perform along with celebrity guests

The camp offers two sessions, June 13-17 and June 20-24 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, held in a safe, secure environment on the beautiful 15-acre campus of Keith School, 1 Jacoby Place, Rockford.  Both weeks are open to novices and experienced musicians alike.  Cost is $350 per week and covers classes, materials, lunches and an official camp T-shirt.   Participants may sign up for one or both weeks.   Anyone who signs up by May 20 will receive a $25 discount off the total price.
