The Purse & the Person: A Century of Womens Purses

The Purse & the Person: A Century of Women’s Purses special traveling exhibit opens Sunday, April 20 at 11:00 am and runs through June 29.

Midway Village Museum will host The Purse & the Person exhibit from April 20 through June 29, 2008. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday: 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday: 11 am – 5 pm.  Admission is $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children (3 to 17).  The exhibit will feature 100 years of women’s purses and what they carried in them.  Including:

Over 500 purses and accessories from a private collection that tell the stories of 20th Century women in America.

Midway Village Museum will exhibit over 60 additional items from their extensive textile collection to show the fashions of the past century.

The Windy City Wizard, Emmett Miller, will present a special “Purse Magic Show” on the opening day April 20 at 1:00 pm to help kick off the exhibit and again on Saturday, May 3.

Midway Village Museum will have trained interpreters available to speak about the collection’s content and provide gallery tours during the 10-week timeframe.
