Block 5 - 2003

June 27th-28th
The 500 Block of E. State St.

This is Block 5's Tenth Year! What started as a two day Arts & Music festival in the Fall each year has grown and evolved into one of downtown Rockford's premier music events of the Summer. Many local and regional bands have graced the stage over the years, including The Pimps, Fluid Oz., Dan Voll, Agent Zero, The Snaggs, 420, The Heavils, Jerry Garcia Band, Harmony Riley, The Seed Band, Mulligan Stu, Caroline Spine, Trippin Billies and many, many more.

We have come to the point where we needed to up the ante and get some National acts to headline each night and support them with top local and regional talent. We also came to the conclusion that no band should play two years in a row. This will keep the festival fresh and enable
some of the newer bands to have access to a great gig. (Any promo packs can be sent to Block 5 at 510 E. State St. - Rockford, IL - 61104)

We expect this years Block 5 to be the biggest and best yet. Slaves On Dope have their sophmore effort "Metafour" releasing on June 10th and should be all over WXRX. Sunset Black played Kryptonite and Elixur last year and did some touring with Slaves On Dope earlier this year. Last Crack has only performed once, this past New Years in Madison, and have a live CD coming out this summer with some new material on it. If you haven't had a chance to see this band, this is a unique opportunity to do so. Last Crack will only do one other show this year and it's in Madison. Suspect is the lone Rockford band playing this year. They
have worked very hard over the last couple of years and will definitely get the party started right.

Jimmie's Chicken Shack is still promoting their last effort "Bring Your Own Stereo". This is a great band to see live and they have never played in Rockford. Left Setter is an up and coming band out of Chicago. They have toured regionally, opening for Taproot, Disturbed, Chevelle and Unloco. Drop is a Chicago band that is just finishing it's
debut CD. They have played in Rockford for the past year and have developed quite a following.

Should be a great weekend of Music!
