Date: 02/04/2010 Eclectica - Streaming Video Soul
by Gregory C. Johnson gregor@beetcafe.com
It’s hard to describe in mere words Eclectica’s “Streaming Video Soul” release. Why it that? Eclectica breaks new ground from what the standard vision of a three piece group is and can do.Composed of three outstanding musical talents, Tracy Silverman (electric 6-string violin), Roy Wooten (drums) and Kyle Whalum (bass), Eclectica weaves funk, jazz, rock, soul, and world music into their own jam band style.
Where “Streaming Video Soul” shines is in the showcasing of each member’s musical talent.Silverman on 6-string electric violin will take you to musical places you never thought possible from a violin.Kyle Whalum’s style on bass keeps the groove of the music going while intertwining melodic riffs into the music that brings the bass to the forefront instead of staying in the background which is a must in any three piece group.Roy Wooten on drums not only keeps a solid rhythm and groove with Whalum but he plays with a flair that adds the perfect accent to the musical flow of each composition.
Eclectica will be in Rockford on February 27th at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center at 7:30pm.They will be holding an Improve clinic at 4pm.For more information on the concert visit: www.charlotteswebofrockford.org/calendar.html.
