Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center is pleased to announce that an additional audition session for the Broadway Bound youth musical theater ensemble will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center.

Broadway Bound, a lively and energetic musical theater ensemble for students aged 13 – 18, performs a variety of Broadway and Pop music favorites, with costumes and choreography, in shows throughout the community, under the direction of musical director Denise Laaveg and choreographer Jennifer Gerczak.  The group rehearses once a week at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center and holds winter and spring performances in Rockford College’s fully professional Maddox Theater, thanks to a new partnership with Rockford College that began last year.  

For the audition, students should prepare a Broadway or Pop selection of their choice and come ready to learn a simple dance routine.  Students should wear clothing and shoes appropriate for movement and bring their own sheet music.  An accompanist will be provided.  Broadway Bound participants are chosen based on vocal ability and stage presence.
