Young Choreographers' Concert Opens RDC Season

Rockford Dance Company is proud to present the 10th Annual Young Choreographers’ Concert featuring the choreography of the members of the Rockford Dance Company. This exhilarating concert will feature music from Beethoven to Bluegrass and dance from Ballet to Modern Contemporary. This concert is sponsored by the generosity of Aqua Aerobic Systems.
This year’s choreographers include Bailey Glavan, from Hononegah High School, Kitzia Picon from Auburn High School, Anastasia Benson from Guilford High School, and Rachel Seger from Boylan High School.
The concert will include a dozen unique dances. Wendy’s Dream, Choreographed by Rachel Seger is based on Wendy from Peter Pan. The Big Apple, choreographed by Bailey Glavan reflects her experience in New York this past summer while attending the Joffrey Intensive Dance Program. Other titles include Alter Ego, Unabridged and Quarrel.
Rockford Dance Company’s Production Manager, Laurie Oliver has been working with the choreographers on light, set and costume design. They have learned how these elements can be used to support their vision and their dancers.
This production will mark the beginning of our season. The remainder of the season will include The Nutcracker on November 27, the Children Dance Theater presentation of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Emperor & The Nightingale on January 29th and ballet’s first comedy, Coppelia on April 9th.
