Fourth Annual Golf Ball Drop & City of Gardens Play Day

It will be raining golf balls at the fourth annual Great Golf Ball Drop presented by Culver’s to be held on Friday, August 6, at 6:13 p.m., at Aldeen Golf Club, 1902 Reid Farm Road, Rockford. The Great Golf Ball Drop is a special event to benefit the Rockford Park District Foundation and Rockford Park District youth golf programs. New this year, this event is being held in conjunction with the City of Gardens annual “Go Fore the Green” Golf Play Day presented by First Northern Credit Union. The deadline to purchase Golf Ball Drop tickets at area sale outlets is Monday, August 2. The deadline to register for the golf play day is Wednesday, August 4.
Golf Ball Drop: How It Works
A group of numbered golf balls will be dropped from a lift hovering over a location at Aldeen Practice Centre. The first golf ball in the hole, or the one closest to the hole, wins the grand prize of $2,500. There will be closest-to-the-pin prizes, as well as a prize for the ball furthest from the pin. Other prizes include: 50” flat screen TV, Blackberry Storm, Wilson Tw9 52” wedge, (2) rounds at Aldeen Golf Club with cart, Wilson 8881 Putter, 1-yr supply of Culver’s Frozen Custard, Lockwood Park group riding lesson, Rockford Park District 2011 golf season permit, Magic Waters 2011 season pass, (2) Coronado Concert Association subscriptions, Burton Hawaiian print golf bag
Tickets may be purchased by August 2nd for $5 each at the following locations:
• Culver’s - 5 Rockford/Roscoe locations
• Logli Supermarkets - 4 locations
• Rockford Park District’s 5 golf courses: Aldeen, Elliot, Ingersoll, Sandy Hollow, and Sinnissippi
• Rockford Park District’s 2 Customer Service locations: Webbs Norman Center at 401 S. Main St., Rockford, and Carlson Ice Arena, at Perryville and Riverside, Loves Park.

City of Gardens “Go Fore the Green” Golf Play Day:

Shotgun Start: 12:00 p.m. (check-in begins at 10:00 a.m.)
Cost: $100 per golfer; includes: greens fees and cart, complimentary tee gift, lunch and light fare following event.
Proceeds to benefit City of Gardens.

Aldeen Golf Club regulations require players to wear a collared shirt – no metal cleats allowed. If golf is cancelled due to inclement weather, golf certificates will be issued. Lunch will be held rain or shine! Proceeds benefit the Rockford Park District’s City of Gardens program.
