Cavo Hits the MetroCentre Saturday May 22nd with Daughtry and Lifehouse

It took me all of 30 seconds listening to “Let It Go” off Cavo’s MySpace page to know that I was going to love their music.  I listened to the rest of the MySpace cuts.  When I was done, I downloaded Cavo’s debut release; “Bright Nights * Dark Days” from iTunes.  As I write this, I am on my third time listening to the album.

I am not going into all the stuff that bands put in their bios; how they got together, what their influences are, how many beers they can chug before or after a concert.  Let’s just talk about the music.  Essentially that is what is important to me.  I want to know if I should take a chance and give a group a listen.  So here it the “Quik Beet” five minute review:

The bottom line is Cavo rocks.  From what I am hearing listening to “Bright Nights * Dark Days,” they are as good as Daughtry and Lifehouse; two groups that I thoroughly enjoy.  So why do I like them?  They can write a song with a catchy hook (chorus) within a great melody.  They can crank out some great hard rock power chords in one track and come back on another track with a great ballad.  Songs like “Champagne” have an excellent hard rock groove that can get your head bouncing (or banging if you have a wall handy). That is a clear sign of a great rock group.  The songs are well crafted, well performed and arranged.  If this is a style of music that you like, then you should get out to the concert or at the very least check them out on iTunes.  I guarantee I will be listening to Cavo cranked up in my office at work tomorrow.

My favorite cuts (so far) off of “Bright Nights * Dar Days:”
Champagne
Let it Go
Ghost
Blame
