Matt Pond PA Bringing Elegant Pop/Rock To Dekalb

by Press Release

Kickstand Productions is pleased to present the indie-pop elegance of Matt Pond PA to DeKalb’s House Cafe on Sunday, May 9th at 7pm. Tickets will be $12 for this all-ages event. Advance tickets are available via www.yourticketstand.com.

The Pennsylvania-born Pond (hence the PA tag) cut his musical teeth in the early 00’s with several orchestral-pop gems for bigger indie labels such as File-13 (Measure) and Polyvinyl (The Green Fury, The Nature of Maps). But since joining the Altitude roster in 2004, Pond has slowly but surely beefed up his rock plate. By changing out cellos and waltz-like ballads for frantic energy and propulsive time-keeping, Pond has actually grown album by album while getting back to basics, and has gained some much-deserved attention along the way: Pond has appeared on soundtracks for the Fox network’s “The O.C.”, alt-country songstress Neko Case appeared on 2007’s Last Light and Pond has toured with the likes of Ted Leo, Guster, Liz Phair and Nickel Creek. Pond resides in Brooklyn and is currently on tour in support of his newest full-length The Dark Leaves, on sale April 13th.

Joining Pond on this current tour is British acoustic troubadour Bobby Long, whose big break came with an appearance on the blockbuster Twilight soundtrack. Long helped pen “Let Me Sign” for the film’s star (and Long’s pal) Robert Pattinson to sing, which has pushed Long’s new single “Left To Lie” to the Top 10 Singles chart of iTunes. Local-area acts The Hudson Branch (Crystal Lake) and Emblems (Lake Zurich) will also perform.
