Shamrock Open Figure Skating Competition Final Standings

On March 14, 2010, the Rockford Park District held its 5th Annual Shamrock Open Basic Skills Competition. A total of 96 competitors from northern Illinois and Wisconsin participated in the events held at Carlson Ice Arena.

In the Basic 3 Compulsory Moves, Lydia Carlson placed 2nd of out 3 skaters. Also in the Basic 3 Free Skate, Lydia placed 2nd out of five skaters.

In the Basic 4 Compulsory Moves, Rockford Skaters took three of five places. Victoria Horton took 3rd place, Paige Brodeski took 4th place, and Sydney Kampmier took 5th place. These same three girls also placed in the Basic Free 4 Free Skate: Brodeski placed 2nd, Horton placed 4th, and Kampmier placed 5th. Madison Marconi took 2nd in the Basic 5 Free Skate.

Benjamin Kies took 2nd in both the Basic 6 Compulsory Moves and Free Skate. In the Basic 6 Free Skate, Kies was joined by Jenna Wallgrin, who placed 6th, and Natalie Johnson, who placed 3rd in both events.

Much like the Basic 4 competitions, the Basic 8 Compulsory Moves and Free Skate had four places taken by Rockford skaters. Morgan Carlson placed 3rd in the Compulsory Moves and 6th in the Free Skate. Jessica Kraus placed 4th in Compulsory Moves and 7th in the Free Skate. Autumn Alderman placed 5th in the Compulsory Moves and 3rd in the Free Skate. Karlie Taylor received 1st place in the Compulsory Moves and 2nd in the Free Skate.

In Freeskate 1 Compulsory Moves, Alexa Norvell placed 1st. With Norvell in the Compulsory Moves, other Rockford skaters also placed as follows: Lauren Bonavia, 2nd; Francesca Butera, 3rd; Calri Petrie; 4th; Madeline Roth, 5th, and Brianna Pifer, 6th. In the Free Skate Group B, Norvell again placed 1st, followed by Bonavia in 2nd. In Free Skate Group A, Pifer took 2nd, Roth took 3rd, and Petrie took 4th. In Free Skate Group B, Butera took 3rd.

In Limited Beginner Compulsory Moves Group A, Rockford skater Isabella West took 1st place, Hannah Taylor took 3rd, and Jessica Barlow took 4th. In Group B, Ella Ruder took 3rd, and Valerie Parker took 4th. In the Limited Beginner Test Track Group A, Valerie Parker tied for 1st with one other skater. In Group B, Barlow took 1st place, Taylor took 2nd, West took 3rd, and Ruder took 4th.

Faith Sutton placed 1st in the Beginner Compulsory Moves; Tricia Griffin took 2nd, and Haley Sommer took 4th. Sutton also took 1st in the Beginner Test Track Free Skate, with Griffin taking 3rd and Sommer taking 6th. In the Preliminary Test Track Free Skate, Marisa Banz took 3rd place. Phenixx Montgomery-Bradley took 2nd place in the Snowplow Sam Compulsory Moves and 4th in the Snowplow Sam Free Skate with Jackie Ruder, who took 5th.

In the No Test Compulsory Moves, Caitlynn Ulmer took 1st and Sydnie Beskel took 2nd. In the Free Skate, Beskel took 3rd and Ulmer took 4th.

Elizabeth Rieger took 4th in the Preliminary Compulsory Moves, followed by Natasha Ferrero in 5th. Rieger also took 4th in the Preliminary Test Track Free Skate.

Another first place tie came in the Pre-Preliminary Test Track Free Skate; Elyse Knoll tied for first place with another skater and took 2nd in the Pre-Preliminary Compulsory Moves with Natasha Ferrero, who placed 5th. Colleen Brown placed 4th in the Compulsory Moves and 5th in the Free Skate Group B along with Annabelle Stefanic, who took 7th.

Rockford Skaters had a total of eight first place finishes and 15 second place finishes in the 40 events in which they competed.

Coaches were Audra Abernethy, Brigitte Carlson Roquet, Jenn Caron, Char Guarino, Tarah Lanier, Patti Replogle, Kathy Torrence, and Carol Ueck.
