WAMI Award Winning Blues at Big Cities Lounge

On Friday, December 4th, 2009 - Hounds Tooth will be returning to the Big Cities Lounge bringing their modern blues to this historic Rockford, IL venue.  Hounds Tooth has been winning critical acclaim across the Midwest this past summer and fall performing at some the top blues festivals and blues rooms in the region.  Hounds Tooth guitarist Jared James Nichols has been moving into the national spotlight by sharing the stage with David “Honeyboy” Edwards at the Paramount Blues Festival; finishing as the Regional Runner-up in Guitar Center’s King of the Blues Guitar Competition; and preparing for the International Blues Challenge Youth Showcase in Memphis in January of 2010.

Hounds Tooth has stormed onto the regional scene with their high-energy show of Soul Rockin’ Blues. This female-fronted band has been winning critical acclaim across the Midwest with powerhouse vocals and a dual-guitar driven sound. With a set list rich in modern blues, original material, and blues-rock numbers, Hounds Tooth’s Soul Rockin' Blues appeals to a wide range of audiences. Hounds Tooth has opened for national acts including Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Shannon Curfman. Hounds Tooth was a 2009 WAMI Nominee for Best Blues Band; 2009 Runner-up in the Shepherd Express’ Best Blues Band; a 2009 IBC Nominee for Best Self-Produced CD; a 2008 WAMI Winner; and The Shepherd Express' Best Blues Band in 2006 and Runner-Up in 2008. Guitarist Jared James Nichols recently appeared on-stage with David "Honeyboy" Edwards at the Paramount Blues Festival and Jared will be participating in the 2010 International Blues Challenge Youth Showcase in Memphis, Tennessee. Additionally, Jared was the regional runner-up in Guitar Center's 2009 King of the Blues Guitar competition.
