The Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center is pleased to present the Cypress String Quartet in concert on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at Court Street United Methodist Church.  Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students.  Groups of 10 or more receive $5 off per ticket.

This concert will include the local premiere of Lento assai by brilliant young American composer Kevin Puts.  This piece was co-commissioned by the Cypress Performing Arts Association, the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, the Lied Center of Kansas and the Library of Congress to celebrate the 200th birthday of Felix Mendelssohn.

A post-concert reception will be held at Court Street United Methodist Church.  An exhibit of significant artifacts illustrating the life and work of Felix Mendelssohn, including original sheet music and a water color painted by Mendelssohn, will be on display.

The quartet will also present a free student outreach for grades 6-12 on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Court Street United Methodist Church.
