by Press Release

On October 3 & 4 from 9am – 2pm come out to Klehm Arboretum for Autumn @the Arboretum. Wagon rides, magic shows, crafts and fun await you and best of all, it’s FREE!

Klehm will have scarecrow building contests on both days.

On Saturday, October 3 adult teams will have 60 minutes to create a scarecrow in one of three divisions: Traditional, Humorous or “Green”. Construction begins at 10am.

On Sunday, October 4 the new youth competition will make its debut. Bring a youth group, scout troop or even a daycare – anyone under 12 can enter – to create a scarecrow in one of these divisions: Fairy Tales, Action Heroes or Cartoon Characters. Prizes will be awarded in each category. Competition starts at 12pm.

Adult Competition cost is $20 per team. Youth Competition is $10 per team, plus a donated pair of new mittens from each child on the team. Mittens will be donated to area youth serving agencies. All teams must be pre-registered.

Deadline for contest entries is Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Scarecrows will remain on display at Klehm Arboretum during October.

Registrations forms available online at www.klehm.org or call the Klehm office at 815-965-8146.
