The RSO is thrilled to celebrate its 75^th anniversary during the 2009/10 concert season. Music Director Steven Larsen and The Rockford Symphony Orchestra will open this momentous season on Saturday, September 27, 2009, with a concert featuring the return of Rachel Barton Pine.

 

We are inviting past RSO musicians to attend the concert at the Coronado Performing Arts Center and be recognized as part of the wonderful history of the RSO. We encourage these musicians to call the RSO office at 815-965-0049 to order their tickets and let us know they will be in attendance.

 

During the concert, members of the Rockford Board of Alderman will join Steven Larsen and the RSO on stage for a mayoral proclamation declaring 2009/10 season the RSO’s 75^th Anniversary Season.

 

Under the artistic leadership of Music Director Steven Larsen, the Rockford Symphony Orchestra is a leading arts organization in the Rockford Region and the third largest symphony orchestra in the state of Illinois. The RSO is made up of 85 professional musicians who perform 17 concerts per year--including classics, pops, ballet, and opera--for an estimated annual audience of 30,000. The RSO was named the 2007 Orchestra of the Year for Illinois.
