Rockford, IL — The Hip Hop Congress of Rockford, IL is hosting Soul Invasion, which is a breakdancing competition on Saturday, May 23rd, 2009 6pm–10pm at the 815 academy of dance (323 W. Jefferson St., Rockford, IL). The breakdancing competition gives individuals a place to showcase their talents to music provided by a live DJ while giving them a chance to win prizes for being the best dancer of the competition.

The breakdancers will show the foundations of hip hop dance as they go head-to-head with explosive and dynamic moves in the form of flips, spins, tricks, and more. The competition will be judged by judges from the Chicago, Madison, and Rockford area whom are skillful in the art of breakdancing. This competition will present those in attendance with a real-life perspective on what it really means to be a breakdancer, while providing competitors with a positive place to share their talents. The music provided by a live DJ will range
through rock to 70’s funk to top 40’s, which will enhance the experience of a positive hip hop environment. There will also be an exhibition between Rockford and Madison breakdancing groups. Breakdancers from several cities around the local area were invited to
compete and everyone is more than welcome to attend. The competition costs $5 to enter and watch, and all of the proceeds will go directly towards supporting the dancers by providing prizes and funding practice facilities. Please support the dancers in this fundraising
event as they physically defy the laws of physics.
