Steeples and Stained Glass Church Walk Tour

Enjoy a walking tour of the historic architecture of six of the oldest churches in Rockford from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16. Rockford architect Gary Anderson’s design interpretation will be included as participants on the tour learn about stained glass, designs and the stories behind the faced. Self-guided tours will be available at each church. Guides will also be stationed around the church to answer questions. 
 
 
Churches on the walking tour are as follows:
. Second Congregational Church, U.C.C.
. St. Mary’s Catholic Oratory - *Grotto only open in the afternoon
. Emmanuel Episcopal Church
. Court Street United Methodist Church
. Midway Community Church – Midway Village Museum
. First Presbyterian Church
 
 
A light lunch will be available for purchase at Second Congregational Church. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased in-advance at Midway Village Museum, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford. There will also be items available for sale at each church. The day of the tour, tickets will be sold at each church. As part of the tour, participants will receive a program the day of detailing the history and architectural style of the churches. Due to a wedding St. Mary’s Catholic Oratory is open only 10 a.m. to Noon. The media sponsor for this event is Radio 91.
