RSO present Community Choice Concert Special Price - all tickets just $25!

by Press Release

Music Director Steven Larsen and the Rockford Symphony Orchestra present its final concert of the season - with a symphony selected by our community - on Saturday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Coronado Performing Arts Center. This concert is part of the ComEd Classics Series.

Last fall as the economy reeled, the RSO began to look for creative ways to adapt with prudence while not in any way diminishing our commitment to a high level of artistic quality.  We made the difficult decision to put the wonderful program of Wagner, Strauss and Puccini--which was scheduled for our final concert of the season--on hold for a few years and opted for a Community Choice Concert that would engage our patrons and provide a high-quality orchestra concert without the added expense of a soloist and choir.

In January, the RSO invited our subscribers and community members to vote on their favorite of five blockbuster symphonies to be performed. The winning choice was Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 2 nicknamed "Little Russian." As a special thank you to the community for a great season and helping program this concert, the RSO is making all tickets for this concert just $25!

Tickets for this concert are available at www.rockfordsymphony.com, by calling 815-965-0049, or visiting the Coronado Performing Arts Center Box Office at 314 N. Main Street.

To enhance the concert experience, program notes and CD recommendations are now available on-line. Patrons are also invited to attend Sound Bites on April 24 at Brio and the pre-concert lecture by Steven Larsen at 6:30 p.m. the night of the concert in the theatre.

Under the artistic leadership of Music Director Steven Larsen, the Rockford Symphony Orchestra is a leading arts organization in the Rockford Region and the third largest symphony orchestra in the state of Illinois. The RSO is made up of 85 professional musicians who perform 17 concerts per year--including classics, pops, ballet, and opera--for an estimated annual audience of 30,000. The RSO was named the 2007 Orchestra of the Year for Illinois.
