Earth Day Awards Luncheon Featuring Philippe Cousteau

by Press Release

The deadline to get your reservations to see Philippe Cousteau, the world renowned ocean exploring grandson of Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau, is nearing. You have until Wednesday, April 1st, to make your reservations to see Cousteau, the keynote speaker for Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful’s second annual Earth Day Awards Luncheon, to be held on Thursday, April 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Giovanni’s in Rockford.

As a member of the legendary family, Philippe is continuing the work of his father and grandfather by educating the public about environmental and conservation issues and inspiring individuals to become better stewards of the planet. Philippe is the chief ocean correspondent for Animal Planet, where he works on various ocean and water-focused documentary programs, including Ocean’s Deadliest, which he completed after his co-host Steve Irwin was fatally wounded during their expedition. He is also the host and narrator for his own one hour special on the Discovery Channel called Living Loch Ness, which premiered in the fall of 2008.

In addition to Mr. Cousteau’s presentation, awards will be presented to an outstanding local corporation, individual and youth for their commitment to the environment.
Individual tickets, still available, are only $50 each. Corporate tables for 10 are available for $500, which includes advertisement in the limited Earth Day Awards Luncheon program book.   Please call (815) 637-1343 for tickets. For additional information, visit www.knib.org
