Rockford Area Arts Council and the Early Learning Council of the Rockford Area present: Family Festival
by Press Release
Sunday, April 26, 2009, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Riverfront Museum Park
711 N. Main Street, in Rockford.
The Rockford Area Arts Council is pleased to join with the Early Learning Council of Rockford in presenting the Family Festival. This event is a combination of the former Family Arts Festival of the Arts Council and the Early Learning Council’s Family Jamboree. Family Festival is held in collaboration with the Rockford Art Museum’s opening of the Young Artists’ Show.
Join us for a fun and informative afternoon of performances and art exhibits by area students hands on activities, and resource information for the entire family. In addition to the Young Artists’ Show in the Art Museum, artwork from Hillman and Washington students will be exhibited. Student performers include: a scene from Ellis Arts Academy’s Willy Wonka Jr. and a musical presentation and demo, Marsh 5th Grade Choir, Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra members, McNulty Irish Dancers, Rockford Dance Company’s DanceReach, and Haskell’s Dance Team. Participants of all ages will have an opportunity to learn dance moves, create art and make music through Guzzardo’s Instrument Petting Zoo. The Family Festival is an opportunity to see firsthand the positive impact of the arts in a child’s life and demonstrates the Arts Council’s firm conviction that the arts must play a vital part in every child’s education!
