Musical Theater Master Class and Open House Reception

by Press Release

Chuck Hoenes, co-founder of Rockford Dance Company will return to teach a Musical Theater Master Class on Sunday, March 15th from 1:30 to 3:00. Mr. Hoenes was a leader in dance in the Rockford area for many years. Before coming to Rockford, Mr. Hoenes choreographed for such legends as Carol Lawrence, Ann Miller, Sammy Davis Jr. and Sophie Tucker. Chuck worked at Boylan High School as an art teacher and choreographed school musicals. He also was the founder of the Clock Tower Musical Theater that was popular for nearly a decade. In 1972 Chuck Hoenes and Jayne Poor called for dancers in the area to meet and work together. 72 dancers answered that call and the Rockford Dance Company was born. 35 years later, Rockford Dance Company has become a cultural leader in dance performance and training.

Chuck was invited back to Rockford to Choreograph “Sugar” at Keith Country Day School. Margaret Rennerfeldt, School Director of Rockford Dance Company and alumni student of Mr. Hoenes, didn’t want to miss this opportunity for current students to meet Mr. Hoenes and have the opportunity to work with him. The company is opening class registration to the public. Intermediate level students are welcome. An open house reception for Mr. Hoenes and Jayne Poor will be held immediately after the master class on March 15th from 3:00 to 5:00 on the second floor of the Riverfront Museum Park. We hope many friends and alumni will come and visit with Mr. Hoenes.
