In conjunction with the Rock River Chapter’s signature fundraiser, Rock’n for the Red, the local Red Cross is holding a design contest. Area artists 16 and older are eligible to submit their rendition of a “rock’n” design to be used for the event’s submission buttons, promotional posters, and t-shirts. Additionally, the winning design chosen by a community wide vote will bring the artist a new laptop donated by American TV & Appliance.

The Rock River Chapter is working closely with the Rockford Area Arts Council to get the word out to area artists. Deadline for submissions is Friday, March 27, 2009. Interested parties are urged to visit: www.rockriver.redcross.org to download the design template.

All proceeds from the music festival, which will be held June 20th at Davis Park, go towards the Chapter’s Disaster Relief Fund. This fund enables the Red Cross to provide food, shelter, and clothing to victims of man-made and natural disasters.
