Pec Playhouse Theatre announces auditions for Love, Sex and the IRS

by Press Release

Pec Playhouse Theatre announces open auditions for its spring show, Love, Sex and the IRS, a satirical comedy written by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore.

Love, Sex and the IRS is a light-hearted farce about two out-of-work musicians who live together in New York City.  To save money, Jon decides to con the IRS by claiming to be married to Leslie, his ambiguously-named male roommate, and it seems he’s gotten away with the perfect scam. Until they get audited, that is, by a Mr. Spinner.  Hilarity ensues as Leslie masquerades as a housewife, and to make matters worse, Jon’s mother shows up.  Add a cheating fiancé, a misogynistic landlord, and an ex-girlfriend, and this is one crazy show, filled with sight gags, twists of fate, and gut-busting laughs.

The play will be under the direction of Glendia Strandin.  There are roles for 4 men and 3 women.  Male roles include:  Leslie (early twenties to early thirties); Jon (early twenties to early thirties); Floyd Spinner, IRS agent (middle aged); and Jansen, the landlord.  Female roles include:  Connie, Leslie’s girlfriend (early twenties to early thirties); Kate, Jon’s fiancée (early twenties to early thirties); and Vivian, John’s mother (middle-aged).

Auditions will be held on Sunday, December 9th from 2:30 to 5:00PM and Monday, December 10th from 6:30 to 9:30PM, with callbacks on Thursday, December 13th at 6:30PM.  All auditions will be held at the theatre at 314 Main Street in Pecatonica.

Also, Pec Playhouse Theatre is seeking volunteers to fill the production positions for the show.  This is a great opportunity to get involved in your local community theatre and work with some of the best theatre folks in the area.  And, we have lots of fun!

Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm, February 8th - February 24th, 2008.  Tickets are $10.   For more information, please call the Pec Playhouse Theatre at (815) 239.1210.
