If you're wishing for a trip to Mexico, but the money or time is standing in your way, perhaps a trek to 3725 East State Street (across from the Driver's License Bureau) might be the answer. That's where you'll find San Jose Taqueria. The atmosphere and authentic cuisine will definitely provide a taste of that land south of the border.

Don't come looking for Tex-Mex or American Mexican food, though. This is all about the real experience. You can sample the Mexican cuisine for every meal including breakfast. While they do offer delivery, the décor and atmosphere is certainly worth the trip. The restaurant serves up a family-oriented experience, but has a full bar so you enjoy your favorite cerveza or tequila. For vegetarians they have a number of non-meat dishes.

The menu includes the classic tacos, burrito and enchiladas alongside the less well-known specialties. If you are looking for something new you could sample their house specials like Pollo A La Mexicana (Chicken Mexican Style), Milanesa (Breaded Steak) or Lengua A La Mexicana (Mexican Style Tongue). For beverage choices the have Horchata (a delicious rice water) and Mexican milkshakes alongside the more standard offerings.

Whether you are looking for a Mexican breakfast of Huevos Con Chorizo (Scrambled Eggs with Mexican Sausage) or Huevos Rancheros (Country Style Eggs), lunch, dinner or even a late night meal (they are open later than most restaurants) San Jose Taqueria is an excellent choice. The authentic Mexican music on the jukebox and the décor will make you feel as if you have taken a journey south of the border.
